This is a question that I see daily. While each website is different, and will require different solutions for specific situations, there are many things that can be applied to virtually ANY website that will boost visitor traffic to the site.

Create and submit Sitemaps and a siteindex file -- In addition to being an excellent way to keep Google up to date on your sites activity, this will also provide access to Googles' stats, diagnostics and tools to help you increase visibility. Social Networking and Blog Sites Capture More Internet Time and Advertising

Americans have nearly tripled the amount of time they spend at social networking and blog sites such as Facebook and MySpace from a year ago, according to a new report from The Nielsen Company. In August 2009, 17 percent of all time spent on the Internet was at social networking sites, up from 6 percent in August 2008.
“This growth suggests a wholesale change in the way the Internet is used,” said Jon Gibs, vice president, media and agency insights, Nielsen’s online division. “While video and text content remain central to the Web experience – the desire of online consumers to connect, communicate and share is increasingly driving the medium’s growth.”
Among those taking note of this trend: advertisers. Estimated online advertising spending on the top social network and blogging sites increased 119 percent, from approximately $49 million in August 2008 to approximately $108 million in August 2009 – all despite a recession. Share of estimated spend on these sites has doubled, from 7 percent of online ad spend in 2008 to 15 percent in 2009.

How You Can Double Your Link Building Efforts

Blog commenting is becoming more and more popular as one of link building tactics. The comment author receives an extra link to his website or blog that favours the website exposure. And the blog owners are always happy to receive good comments – it’s important for them to keep a lively interest to their posts.
Of course, a "DoFollow" backlink is a great reward for a valuable comment because it helps improve the search engine position. But the comment allows a reader have only one backlink and this link may have the commentator’s name or nickname as the anchor text that doesn’t mean much for search engines.

It’s assumed that my comments are not spam, so I can hope to get 78 "DoFollow" links to my blog (because one comment will have two links: one for the anchor text in the Name field and the second one – a deep link to the latest post on my blog)! And we all know how valuable "DoFollow" links are. Just a couple of them can considerably improve your website ranking in search engines.
Of course, I gave a single niche example but you got the idea. Now you can change your primary keywords to your secondary keyword set and find one more hundred or two of blogs that use the CommentLuv plugin and are worth to comment on.
Few tips from me:
If you are going to comment on blogs with CommentLuv, make sure your blog posts have appealing titles including your target keywords. Not only will good titles attract the readers prompting them to click on your link, they will also help you rank well for your keywords.
If you use Feedburner on your blog, you’ll get a redirection link to your last post instead of the direct link to the article on your blog. You can read here how to disable the redirect.

How to Build Backlinks to Your Site Using Free Techniques

When you submit a comment on other people’s blog, you are usually asked to provide your name, email address, URL and comment text itself. You can use your keyword anchor text as your name. When your comment is posted, your URL becomes attached to your keywords.
Be sure to write something useful in the comment section, so it doesn’t look like 100% spam. Don’t post 2 word crap like "great post", rather try to contribute to what the initial post was about. Post a comment only if you have something of value to add to the discussion and not just to get links. Your comment will be pending for approval and blog owners are much more likely to approve your comment if it is relevant. Remember, the only cost of your new backlink is a comment. So, take a few moments to write a meaningful comment.

There are may ways to drive targeted traffic on the Internet. One of the easiest ways to do so is through forum posting. Forums are Internet communities that are made up of members who share similar interest. Usually, traffic from forums convert unusually well. If you are patient enough, you can get conversion rates of 10% or higher. It is a well known fact that building back links to your website is one of the most important elements of modern search engine optimization (SEO) of a website. a back link is a link from another website to yours.

1. There is the back link that is one way. That is, you get a link to your website without having to link back to the site that linked to you. These are the types you get from doing directory or article submission. Or if your website content is good enough other webmasters will freely link to your content or resource. However, you can get a very good free back link, if you get your site listed in the directory. This is a human reviewed general web directory. There are other quality free directories. Using reciprocal directories to build back links.
Reciprocal directories are a little better than free directories. Your site submission is more readily accepted because of the reciprocal link you are offering to the directory. So your waiting time for acceptance is shorter than for the free directories. However, just like for the free directories, the webmaster is at liberty to list your site anywhere in the directory. This, most of the time, means being buried so deep in the directory structure that you do not get any value for listing.
Using paid directories.
Using paid directories to build back links is the best way to build quality back links to your site. Before we get into how to build quality back links using this type of directory, lets look at the advantages in being listed in them.
a. Before a directory will even think of charging for listing it must have acquired some quality. Either through page rank, which is the most obvious due to the page rank bar, or through acceptance in the webmaster community. And most of these paid directories are being spidered (crawled) by the search engines regularly. Sometimes on a daily basis. So if you have a new site your chances of being picked up and indexed quickly by the search engines are very high indeed.
b. You can get to choose where your site is listed. Most of the time the webmaster will not change the page your site is listed in.
c. Your site could be picked up for listing in other new directories.
d. You can get some decent amount of traffic since you will have a featured or sponsored listing in the directory. This means your website will be at the top of the page where it is listed.
e. Your site will get page rank passed to it from the listing page if it has good page rank.
Okay lets build these back links. Firstly bear in mind that there are thousands of directories on the web. They are also of different kinds, There are niche and general directories. So if any one directory doesn’t satisfy you search out another.
1. Search out the directories with the least price and highest page rank at that price.
2. Browse to the page (category or sub category) you want to submit your site to and make sure it has a good page rank. For a page rank 6 directory, you could typically find a page rank 4 page to list your site in. If no page or category exist for a good page rank, move to another directory.
3. Choose featured listing without additional listings. Offer for featured listings with additional pages are normal higher in price than for directories without. The additional listings will not add any value in terms of page rank to your additional listed pages because most of the time the pages where you are allowed to list additional pages have zero page rank. Since you aim to build many back links through paid directories you do not want to waste your money.
4. Some directories offer permanent listing and yearly listing. Choose permanent listing so your credit card is not charged every year. Both provide same value.
5. Make sure there are not more than 20 to 30 other outgoing links on the page you will listed in. Having many outgoing links on the page dilutes the page rank passed to your site.

Without eyeballs on your sales letter, you won't make any sales!There are many ways to generate fast free website traffic, but many of them aren't readily available to the average, lesser-known marketer.Joint ventures are an excellent way to get tons of others to send you there traffic. However, joint ventures hinge upon relationships/connections, and many of the people with the most traffic have tons of their own products to promote. Those who own large lists are also approached about joint ventures so often that they may have commitments that extend out past six months.If you do have a large list, getting immediate traffic to your website can be as simple as sending a compelling email. However, it takes time to build a quality list. It also takes time to build strong relationships and trust with your list members.Another one of my favorite ways to generate lots of free traffic is by creating an inexpensive product and then allowing others to selling it and keep 100% of the profit. However, that does require a product on a really hot topic, and you still have to recruit affiliates.You are also giving away 100% of the money on the sale (sacrificing early profits), and your goal there is not so much traffic but to build a list. I do often do this, using a script called Rapid Action Profits, which deposits proceed from the sale directly into my affiliates Paypal accounts while adding the new subscriber to my list automatically.However, for generating traffic that is free, fast, and even long-term, I recommend creating lots of content and putting it in the path of the search engines. In fact, I often do this when I'm launching a new product, or even promoting a new affiliate product. Here are the down and dirty steps that I take:1) Do your keyword research, striving to identify the "buying keywords" that your target customers are using. One easy way to do that is to use the "Google External Keyword Tool" to research which keywords get the most searches. This tool is free to use, and will also suggest related keywords to you.What you are looking for is evidence that people are searching on a given phrase, and that those people are spending money. The Google External Keyword Tool will tell you this.You can also enter a keyword phrase that you plan to target into the regular Google search box, and look at how many Google AdWords ads display on the right side of the page. These are people paying for each click from people who search on that term, and then click through to their sites. Presumably, they wouldn't pay for those clicks unless these customers were spending money.2) Use your target keywords to craft titles for 20 articles. In addition to the keywords make sure that your title also promises some benefit. The article title is what's going to get you the most traction in the search engines.3) Actually write those 20 articles. They can be as short as 400 words. If you have trouble writing, go to several of the bigger article directories and read what others have written on the topic. Also Google the keyword and look at what experts have had to say on the topic. Then write the articles.If you are still stumped, simply plug your mike into your computer and then talk about the topic. Most of us are certainly good at talking. Record your thoughts then go back and organize them and you have an article (or several articles).Add a resource box to the article that tells the reader to go to your site for more information, or resources (your product) on the topic. When linking back to your site, use your keyword as the anchor text where permitted.4) Turn each article into a video. The simplest way to do this is probably to put your main points on PowerPoint slides. Then as you read your article, flip through the slides, and record it using Camtasia screen capture software. As easy as that, you have a movie.5) Turn each article into a podcast (an MP3). Just read the article and record it using software built right into your computer. You can also download free recording software for tons of places on the internet. One of my favorites is Audacity.7) Write several press releases using the article titles as your topic. Here you need to get a little creative, but as an example, for this article I would use, "Website Traffic Expert Reveals How To Generate Free website Traffic Fast."These press releases are being written for SEO purposes, so the exact wording is not so critical. You are going to share several point in the press release and then you are going to link to one or two websites that you want to call attention to. Your links will use your keywords as the anchor text.8) Submit these articles, videos, podcasts, and press releases to article directories, video sharing sites, podcast aggregators, and free press release sites. Since I do this for numerous products and projects, I use an automated submission site. Being a very prolific writer, I have weeks when I may do 20-40 articles (while still running my web business).9) "Rinse and repeat!" What happens over time is that you'll soon have so much content in cyberspace that you'll achieve critical mass. At that point you'll rank for your most important keywords as well as lots of longtail keywords. At that point, you'll be amazed at the traffic.

Feel free to test out any of these keyword phrases to see which keywords phrases got us free traffic to our website. You will probably see that this has worked to a degree, but would you want to intentionally misspell tons of words on your websites in order to drive free traffic to your website? My suggestion is that you use more of the “normal” methods of driving website traffic before you decide that you need to start misspelling things in order to make a sale.

How To Get Free Traffic To Your Website

There are many ways to get free traffic to your website, but the method that I use beats all the traditional methods hands down - and best of's free!

I have used all forms of advertising, but most of the good forms of advertising have cost money. Like all business owners, we have to analyze our investments and try to cut cost in order to receive a larger return on our investments.

Now, your probably wondering what I could possibly be doing to bring traffic to my website without spending a dime on advertising. Well, you're looking at it. Do you see it yet? I am writing an article. It's absolutely that simple!

I will write an article about a topic that I know and am comfortable with, and then I will go and submit these articles to various websites on the Internet. Are you worried that websites won't accept your article? You shouldn't be. This is a win / win situation for all parties involved.

First of all, webmasters love these articles. I have even had webmasters come back to me and ask if I have any more. Why do they do this? Because it helps their search engine rankings by providing visitors to their site good content. After they place your article on their website a portion of their visitors will visit your site. Once you have placed enough of these articles out on the Internet, your traffic will dramatically increase and so will your search engine rankings. I guarantee it!

Maybe your new to the Internet business and don't have enough experience to write about anything pertaining to the Internet business. No problem there either. Everyone has some life experience that they can write about. Maybe you're a stay at home mom and your good at changing diapers. You better believe that there is a mother to be out there somewhere who is surfing the Internet looking for information on how to change diapers.

Now, your probably not going to be able to write an article about changing diapers and get it listed on a home business website. But there are plenty of websites that will accept an article of this nature and still drive traffic to your business site. I would suggest doing a search on your favorite search engine for "submit baby articles" or something of that nature. Be creative, you will never run out of websites willing to accept your article.

After I have completed my article, I will write a short autobiography about myself and include my website address in it. Notice how I have done this at the bottom of this article.

The Internet was created with the intention of providing information to the public. Become an information provider and you will be rewarded beyond your wildest dreams. Remember that the Internet has created more millionaires than any other vessel in history.

Internet Marketing requires you to sale other people’s products or services, or if you have decided to create your own product, sale your own. But whether you are selling your own or others, we all have one thing in common – getting traffic to our websites. But what is most important is not just getting traffic, but targeted traffic. Thus, How Do you or I get traffic to our sites?
In my early beginnings on the Internet, I tried many methods of getting traffic to my website. I was definitely a newbie in training – some of the software or services that I bought did me no good. I found, at times, that it was truly difficult to decipher which was a good deal and which was not – who was honest, and who was not – but I guess it goes with the Internet territory – and you must always do your due diligence.
However, I have found three methods of getting traffic to my site or affiliate product or service – Buying it – PPC, such as Google, Mamma, Overture, linking or the hard one Search Engine Optimization.
If you have the money to invest in Google or some of the other search engines pay-per-click programs you can make some money. Here you create an ad or ads relevant to your affiliate program, and place a bid on the keywords you select. This takes time, energy, persistence and money – and research. Also, I would advise that you read your affiliate programs rules, as well as, the rules of Google Adwords before jumping into the pay-per-click arena. You usually have to put “aff” after your ad or something similar to that – it’s dependent upon the affiliate program you are in. The idea with pay-per-click is that you pay only when the individual clicks on your ad.
Linking can be by either paid or unpaid methods. The paid methods are paying for your link to be shown in Ezines, newsletters or on other peoples’ sites. It can be costly, so the best suggestion that I can give you is to research the Ezines, newsletters and or other people sites that you want to link with before buying. In most cases, if ezines are accepting advertising, you know they must have at least 500+ subscribers, or I should say, be sure that they have at least 500+ subscribers before advertising in their ezine. Know what you are getting before you put your money down – and as they always say, be sure to read the fine print.
The unpaid method is through article creation. This requires hard work on your part, but the return will be seen in the long term. Keep in mind, your articles should be relevant and address the subject matter of your site and products. Content reigns king on the Internet – and if it is relevant to their needs – they will eventually come to read.
Search Engine Optimization
Search Engine Optimization is basically the optimization of your web pages so that you can get a decent ranking by the search engines, and thus, to pull people to your website by it relevance. This is a difficult chore and needs to continually be worked at – and within the ethics of the Search Engines.
To conclude, getting targeted people to your site is really part of growing your business. And Internet marketing – well, it’s not for the faint-hearted, but for the determined, persistent individual who wants to really make a living on-line.
